Sixteenth Annual Habitat For Humanity Golf Tournament a Huge Success

Fluvanna County Habitat for Humanity held its sixteenth annual benefit golf tournament at Lake Monticello Golf Course on Saturday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. The event netted $9,200 for Habitat, which will support Habitat's home building program in the county. Once again, Effort Baptist Church was the leadership sponsor for this year’s tournament. More than 80 businesses, organizations, and professional persons from Fluvanna County and the surrounding area served as hole sponsors or general sponsors of the event with financial contributions and/or prizes.  Fluvanna Habitat would like to thank all of the sponsors, contributors, players, and volunteers that made this event such a success.

Habitat Seeks “Covenant” Relationships with Local Churches

Chances are, there are already a number of people in your congregation who already support or have a strong interest in Habitat for Humanity.  Becoming a “Covenant Church” is a great way to solidify your intentions to be in partnership with Fluvanna Habitat.  It enables Habitat to plan, knowing what types of support to expect from local congregations in the coming year.  It also gives the covenant churches a strong sense of supporting God’s concern for the economically disadvantaged, in helping low income families get into a decent home with an affordable mortgage.  To find out more about becoming a covenant church and what it means, click here.

"Cars For Homes" Program

Do you have an old vehicle in your driveway that you would like to donate to a worthy cause?  If so, please consider Habitat for Humanity's "Cars for Homes" Program.  This program benefits the community from where the car is donated, with 70 to 80 percent of sales proceeds going directly back to the local affiliate.  Habitat accepts almost any vehicle, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs and boats.  For a more detailed description of this program and contact information, click here.
