The Role of Covenant Churches and Habitat

Dear Partners in Christ:

Thank you for considering the opportunity to be a “covenant” congregation with Fluvanna Habitat For Humanity.  It is our goal to increase the number of covenant congregations in the coming year by 25 percent.  To accomplish this, we need your help!

What does it mean to be in a “covenant” relationship?  We know of a number of covenants in Scripture. God made a covenant with Abraham, promising to bless him and his descendants.  God made a covenant with Noah, setting his bow in the clouds.  A covenant is a promise of support, protection, and love. Covenants are two-way streets.  One blesses others in covenant, and one is blessed at the same time.  As people of the new covenant, the one made through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are set free to serve the God who has made us heirs to the new covenant of Christ.

We have a distinct calling as Christians to act with justice and work on behalf of those in need.  We appreciate your willingness to partner with us in providing low-cost housing solutions for families who currently do not have adequate housing. It has indeed been an answer to prayer for ten Fluvanna families, and counting!

As the time draws near for your congregation to approve your ministry spending plan for the coming year, we ask that you consider making a financial commitment to your local Habitat for Humanity chapter in Fluvanna County. As noted on the covenant, even the smallest financial contribution can begin the covenant relationship, along with a commitment to pray and support in other ways as the Lord provides means.

When you have taken the opportunity with your congregation to consider all of the options on the covenant form, please fill out and customize the covenant form and return it by mail to:

We will then send you a recognition certificate and call to arrange a time for a representative from Habitat to thank your congregation for its partnership in this vital ministry.  If there are additional ways you wish to partner with us that are not listed on the covenant, please list those as well.  Thank you for considering this partnership covenant with Fluvanna Habitat for the up-building of our community.

In Christ’s name,
