Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament Results A beautiful day at Lake Monticello Golf Course was the scene Saturday,
July 16th, for the Seventeenth Annual Fluvanna Habitat for Humanity Benefit Golf Tournament. Nearly 100 golfers participated,
assisted by numerous Habitat volunteers. Effort Baptist Church, Ameriprise Financial/Hancock, Engel & Associates, and UVA
Community Credit Union were once again major sponsors of the event, which netted approximately $8,000 which will go toward building
another affordable home for a deserving Fluvanna County family. Tournament Co-Chairmen Gene Riek and Kit Walz, along with Fluvanna
Habitat President Mike Himes thanked the many tournament sponsors and volunteers that made the tournament a success. Members
of the winning ladies team were Kathryn Hunter, Pat Ronan, Jan Shattls and Peggy Smith. The men’s team of John Hutcherson, Ronnie
White, David Cullen and Jim Bunn won first place for low gross. Second place low gross was won by the team of Chet Senig, Paul
Stams, Jim Burt and Wayne Murphy. Third low gross went to Colin Hunter, Art Hoogmoed, Dave Loos and Dan Reuther. First
place in the men’s low net category went to the team of Al Colville, Al Parks, Kirt Doersch and Terry Furlong. Second place
belonged to the team of Phil Seyller, Rich Barringer, Tom Braithwaite and George Robertson. Third place low net was won by Joel
Dwyer, Ron Whatley, Steve Wachenfeld and Terry Heyer. Longest drive was won by Jan Shattls for the ladies, Colin Hunter from
the men’s gold tee and Patrick Wilson from the white tee. Closest to the pin winners were Pat Ronan for the ladies and Jim Burt
for the men. Tournament Co-Chairman Gene Riek expressed his gratitude to the nearly 80 individuals and businesses who so generously
donated to this event. Riek also expressed his thanks to the many Habitat volunteers who worked diligently to bring about a successful
tournament. Because of a donation received from the Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources and Fluor
Corporation, Fluvanna Habitat this year will be able to build two new homes instead of the traditional one home per year. For
